Arts are broadly categorized into two types, visual art and performing art. In this article we focus and elaborate more on visual art. Some of the important sub categories of visual art are:

Paintings
Painting is an art of using colors on a surface to bring a shape of an object or a place or a person. The surface can either be a paper, wood, glass etc. And paints like water, acrylic, oil etc.

Drawing is the most common form of visual art in the world. Drawing is similar to painting, but the materials used are different in drawing. Pencils, crayons, pens, etc are used in the drawing. Surface can be anything, but more commonly paper is used as a surface in drawing.

Wall art
Wall art or wall painting is also known as mural. They are fixed on walls. Wall arts are commonly stickers or hangings made of different materials such as wood, metal, cloth, etc and comes in many sizes and shapes. Graffiti also falls under this category.

Calligraphy
Calligraphy is the art of writing letters in different styles to make them look attractive. Letters can be of any style, there is no restriction on the style. Surface can be anything and material used is, ink with special brushes or pens.

Photography
The art of producing an image on a special made paper by using a camera is called photography. Photography is divided into many types based on the things that photographer captured in camera like wildlife photography, food photography, etc.

Sculptures
Sculptures are very interesting kind of visual art. The process of developing a three dimensional object by using materials like wood, clay, stone, metal, etc is called a sculpture making. It can be of any size and may represent a person or an object or any shape.

Antiques
Antiques are objects that are more than 100 years old. They overcome different climatic conditions and wear and tear of many people. They are popular because of their quality, rarity and the aesthetic essence it carries since several years.

Mosiacs
